Downshire places a high value on the pastoral aspects of education. We believe that a happy pupil will respond positively to the learning opportunities presented. Should a pupil have a concern, the pastoral structure, built on positive relationships between pupils and teachers, is in place to support the pupil and to enable them to resolve issues.
Parents are a valued partner in resolving issues. They are welcomed and encouraged to discuss matters of concern with the appropriate staff.
Over the past number of years we have utilised the skills and maturity of our sixth form students in taking on the role of mentors to enable Year 8 pupils to adapt quickly to life in Downshire.
