|This years’ Young Enterprise company, DYEnamite have a mission to offer our customers an ‘explosive’ level of customer satisfaction! To date, we have had two main opportunities to make a positive impression on our target markets:
– Halloween Cupcake sale
– December Trade Fair in Ballymena
December Trade Fair
‘DYEnamite’ attended the annual Trade Fair in the Fairhill Shopping Centre in Ballymena . We worked hard to develop their Anti-Winter Kits just in time for the snow and ice. We all got into selling-mode very quickly and found ‘the gift of the gab’ enticing many customers to our stall. Excitement and anticipation started to grow after an hour, when we realised that the product was so popular we had sold nearly half of the Kits. By 1.30, we had completely sold out – the only group out of 20 to do so!
The last stage of the day was the presentation of awards. We were very proud to return with the ‘Best Customer Service’ award and receiving a lovely silver plate from the Mayor of Ballymena. Overall, we found the day productive and exciting, promoting the excellent effort made by Downshire School. DYEnamite have set a high benchmark for other Young Enterprise groups in future Trade Fairs!

In November, we attended the Young Enterprise Masterclass attended by 4 other schools and colleges. We had the opportunity to work on tasks with other schools and share ideas. We also won an award for the best ‘Tweet’ after developing an idea for an iPhone app!
One of our company directors nearly won £1000 when she took part in an activity led by David Meade from the BBC show ‘The David Meade project’!
The day was very enlightening and we developed teamwork and organisation skills – all essential to our success of DYEnamite.
